At its simplest, power reserve is how long a mechanical watch keeps running after you stop winding it or stop wearing it. Think of it as the watch's battery life, except there is no battery. The energy comes from a coiled spring, and the number on the spec sheet tells you roughly how many hours that spring can drive the movement before it winds all the way down and the hands stop.
